After having your lashes done (full sets, refills, or lash corrections), avoid water, heat, facial services, and tanning beds for the next 24 hours. If receiving a facial, request dry cotton rounds over your eyes. Wear tanning goggles during spray tanning. Avoid applying facial skincare products on your upper eyelids.
After 24–48 hours, you may resume your normal lifestyle, but resist excessive heat, heavy sweat, saunas, and direct water exposure.
Clean your lashes regularly (at least once a day or 2–3 times a week). Any cleaning liquids or products you use must be oil-free. Oils weaken the adhesive bond and cause your lashes to shed prematurely.
Brush your lashes with a clean mascara wand at least once a day. Gently roll the brush over your lashes with your eyes closed to detangle them, then open your eyes and adjust them into place.
We recommend oil-free hair conditioner. Be very cautious with oil-based conditioners; lean your head back when rinsing so it does not drip onto your lashes.
We recommend using oil-free mascara only. Apply it strictly to the tips of your extensions using an angled synthetic brush. Do NOT use waterproof mascara.
Avoid getting too close to heated ovens, grills, or fire pits. When cooking, open the oven or grill lid and wait 20–30 seconds for the heat, steam, and smoke to dissipate before approaching. Excessive heat can singe or straighten your lash extension curl.
Avoid letting direct shower water streams hit your lashes. When rinsing off facial skincare products (which often have high oil concentrations), use a washcloth to prevent them from dripping onto your lashes.
Remove Eye Makeup: Remove all eye makeup using an oil-free and glycol-free makeup remover. When removing eyeliner, dip a cotton swab in oil-free remover and wipe across or away from the lid — NEVER towards the extensions. Do NOT use cotton balls, as fibers will catch on the lashes.
Remove Foundation: If wearing heavy foundation, remove it before washing your eyes using an oil-free cleanser, avoiding the immediate eye area.
Wash Lashes: Wet your eyes with cool water. Take a small amount of oil-free lash cleanser (such as Unik Foaming Cleanser, available at our studio) or oil-free baby shampoo and lather it up in your palm. Gently splash it over your closed eyes (one at a time). Do not rub or scrub them like washing hair. Repeat if your eyes still feel grubby.
Rinse & Dry: Rinse thoroughly and dab gently dry with a soft towel or tissue. It is fine if they are slightly damp or stuck together; brushing will re-separate them.
Brush: Use your lash wand to gently twirl through them and fan them back out.
IMPORTANT: Please wait at least 24 hours before getting your eyelash extensions wet.
Not wetting your lashes for the first 24–48 hours does not mean you should never wash them. You need to get them wet regularly to keep them clean. Improper cleaning of your eyelashes, extensions, and eyelids can cause issues that shorten the lifespan of your extensions.
Blepharitis is a common condition among those who do not maintain good eyelid hygiene. Defined as “inflammation of the eyelid,” it is annoying and irritating rather than dangerous. Dead skin cells and oil build-up on the eyelids cause itchiness, inflammation, and red, sore eyes. Some people mistake this for an allergic reaction to eyelash glue. With proper cleansing of your lids and extensions, you will notice that:
The itchiness disappears quickly.
Your eyes feel much better.
Your extensions last longer!
Hygiene is even more critical when wearing thick, dense extensions, especially if coated in mascara (which we do not recommend), as they are difficult to clean thoroughly.
Additionally, natural oils from your skin, makeup, or moisturizers will build up on your extensions over time. If left unwashed, oil breaks down the adhesive, causing extensions to fall off sooner. The less oily you allow your extensions to get, the longer they will last.
